Photography
I have always been very passionate about photography, ever since I got my first camera as a kid (it was a bright red Kodak Easyshare). I find the art of capturing moments as challenging as it is exciting. Knowing you captured the essence of the moment is an incredible feeling. I was lucky to take this passion with me to the Minnesota Daily where I was a staff photographer for the last 4 months of college. I have experience shooting on both Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras. I am experienced with Adobe Photoshop and am learning Lightroom.
Minnesota Daily
I started working for the Minnesota Daily as an intern in April of 2021. I had just started around the time that Daunte Wright was killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. This meant a lot of protest coverage and walking the thin line between getting the emotional shots while acknowledging my place as a white photographer capturing moments of devastation in the black community. From there I also covered the news of the Derek Chauvin trial at George Floyd Square, something I will remember for the rest of my life. Here are some pictures from both of those events.
